Help Us Reach Our $60,000 Goal — RAGBRAI Gives

We-Cycle operates out of a donated shared space alongside a small skate park called the Geode, within a vibrant nonprofit hub known as Reliable Street. Reliable Street also encompasses the Lockwood Café, Sidetrack Skate Shop, Always Free Thrift Shed, community garden, numerous art events, and other grassroots programs to bring people together and enrich the Ames community.

Right now, our greatest need is people. We're looking for volunteers of all kinds — mechanics, grant writers, event coordinators, and anyone who wants to contribute their skills. As we grow, we're working to improve and stabilize our space so we can serve more people consistently.

We-Cycle operates out of the upper level of an old grain elevator, which currently lacks insulation and updated wiring. Because of this, we're not able to comfortably operate year-round. We're in the process of obtaining estimates for these upgrades, with a goal of raising $20,000 to make the space safe, functional, and accessible throughout the year.

With these improvements, we'll be able to expand our programming, welcome more community groups, and bring back initiatives like our youth Earn-a-Bike program.

Our overall fundraising goal is $60,000 through the RAGBRAI Gives campaign. Every dollar brings us closer to a workshop that can serve the Ames community in every season. Whether you can give $10 or $10,000, your contribution makes a real difference in the lives of the people we serve.
